| 1.1 How do I search the directory? | ||||
| You simply enter certain words that you feel are related to the site or topic in which you are interested. Bahamanet will search its directory for matches and return a list of results, if any, for you to browse. | ||||

| 1.2 How do I search for phrases? | ||||
| You can search for phrases by enclosing them in double quotes. For example: "Goombay Punch" will return anything containing the phrase "Goombay Punch", but not anything containing just "Goombay" or just "Punch". | ||||

| 2.1 Why can't I search on certain words? | ||||
| Some words are so common to the english language as to be meaningless in significance, contextually speaking. Also, these words tend return extremely large result sets, which can burden the application and web servers. Due to these realities, it is standard practice for search engines to apply rules and lists to block searches on these words (typically referred to as 'stopwords'). | ||||

| 2.2 What makes a valid search? | ||||
You can search one any word, word part, or phrase that is not a stopword. Examples of words that you cannot search on are:

| 3 Why are more matches shown than the total indicates? | ||||
| Believe it or not, the total is accurate! The results are formatted in such a way as to provide links to the categories containing matches, regardless of whether or not those categories themselves were a match. It is this formatting logic which causes the results to appear mismatched to the total. | ||||
